Bhiringi Kali Temple is situated in the busy market area of Benachiti. This temple of Bhiringi Maa has now become one of the prominent Kali Peeth on the map of West Bengal.
Throughout the year, devotees from different districts gather in this temple to pray goddess Kali for the fulfillment of their wishes. A Trishul stands outside the main temple which is believed to behold spiritual signs.

History of Bhiringi Kali Temple

The Bhiringi Kali Mata temple was established in 1852 by Akshay Kumar Ray. The deep history and secrets of this temple are known to many.
The temple is built on a burial ground. Buried beneath the temple are the founders of the temple, Akshay Kumar Roy and his son Rabindranath Roy. The present structure of the temple was built with the aid of the son. A beautiful and rare form of Maha Kali is notable within the temple complex.

Mahakali is worshipped beside Nandi Bhringi resting on Sankotmochan Hanuman’s shoulder. The temple was formerly located in a village on the west side of which was Dhampukur. It is from this place where three Vishnu idols and Nandi and Bhringi (mount of Lord Shiva) idols were recovered.
Chandabhairavs are offered food before offering food to Maa Kali. It is said that the founder of the temple, Akshay Kumar Roy, was grieving over the death of his Gurudev, and sooner the people of that village found a silver coin in his holy remains during the last rites.
